Anna and Santi are two of the kindest people that I have ever met.  They both work as paramedics and have been together for several years.  I love the way that they treat each other.  It is clear in every interaction that they care so deeply for one another.  I have had the pleasure of knowing this sweet couple personally, as they work with my husband and have become dear friends of ours.  It is always a special honor to be chosen to photograph a friend’s joyous backyard wedding reception.

Anna and Santi experienced the rollercoaster that is wedding planning in 2020 with their first wedding venue going bankrupt, unexpected construction of their church, and then later the rescheduling uncertainty of covid.  They handled each setback with a positive attitude and excitement focusing on their love for one another and the true purpose behind their wedding.  Anna once said to me “I just want to marry my best friend.” This was such a touching sentiment and I could feel the honesty in every conversation and every interaction between them.  Like a wedding, life will be so full of setbacks, difficulties, and unexpected events, it is much easier to weather that storm with your best friend by your side.

This sweet couple chose to do a day after session for their romantic bride and groom photos, as a wedding photographer this is one of my favorite opportunities.  Choosing to do bride and groom photos separate from your wedding day allows for more time to mingle and celebrate with loved ones and also ensures that your couples photos are in beautiful golden light and a location that you love.  This eliminates the worry about driving to the perfect spot and missing out on time at the reception and helps couples relax and enjoy their session as the hustle and bustle of the wedding day are removed.  For Anna and Santis day-after romantics we anticipated one of those famous Sandia mountains storms.  Despite the threat of a summer rainstorm, we were able to capture the couple in the desert amidst the backdrop of Albuquerque’s iconic mountains.  It is a rare treat to capture the mountains with this perfect stormy light and as a southwest wedding photographer I was delighted.  However, the backdrop was not nearly as beautiful or as powerful as the bond between this amazing couple.

Thank you for having me Anna and Santi, I am so excited for the two of you and all the beauty the future holds.  You set an incredible example of what love and commitment look like, I am so grateful to have that in my life.  I know the next few years will be full of new experiences and new challenges and I am so honored to be able to capture each step as your family grows.
