I have had the privilege of photographing many sweet couples over the years as a wedding photographer, but nothing comes close to the fun of working with my little sister. This past week I traveled out to Moab, Utah to photograph Joe and Jess’s engagement session. Could these two be any cuter! From the J and J alliteration to their shared love of musicals, everything about Jess and Joe is meant to be.
It’s funny to think, as I scroll through these photos, that they were both ambivalent after their first. However, on the second date, this sweet duo found easy company, smiles, and some friendly teasing as they stumbled through an evening of closed museums, slow driving, and empty restaurants. As Jess’s older sister I have an extra bit of insight I get to share here. Jess has described the happiness that she feels with Joe by saying she feels like she gets to be the best version of herself, the Jess who has let go of her insecurities and worries and simply is, is happy, is free, is herself. I can’t imagine a better quality in a future spouse.
We opted for a Moab engagement session because who doesn’t love Moab in the spring. Jess was hoping for a sun-filled session with red rocks and boy did Moab deliver! We had the most beautiful light during this sunrise session off of Kane Creek Blvd. After the session, we spent the day rock climbing at wall street and playing in the Colorado River. It was a day straight from my heaven. I am so excited for the J squads upcoming July wedding in Payson, Utah.
